Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
