Rob Edwards and O'Neil both have past connections with Wolves

Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend following the team's 10-match winless beginning to the top-flight season.

And both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club directors as they start the process of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.
